London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony - The much awaited event of the year will kickoff tonight as the London Olympics 2012 officially brings the world to the biggest sports event. All eyes will turn to London Friday, July 27th for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The opening ceremony will begin at 2000 GMT which will run up to three hours created by Oscar-winning "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle.
The Ceremony will kick off with the sound of the largest harmonically tuned bell in Europe, produced by the Whitechapel Foundry, and the Stadium will be transformed into the British countryside for opening scene ‘Green and Pleasant’, which includes real farmyard animals. The Ceremony will also include a special sequence celebrating the best of British, featuring volunteer performers from the NHS.
The spectacular event is composed of 16,000 athletes from 204 countries and will be watched crowd of 60,000 in the stadium. Queen Elizabeth will be in the crowd, along with US First Lady Michelle Obama.
BBC1’s coverage begins at 6am each day — and runs uninterrupted to 1am. BBC3’s alternative live coverage begins at 9am, through to 7pm. The BBC1 highlights show — effectively the Games’ Match of the Day — hosted by Gabby Logan is on nightly at 10.40pm. The Beeb is also broadcasting live on 24 HD channels, which are free to Sky, Freesat or Virgin viewers.
YouTube will live stream the games to countries all over the world as part of an IOC deal, which will also be viewable on YouTube's mobile and Xbox Live applications.
The London Olympics 2012 live stream will be broadcast over four NBC networks on television—NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC and BRAVO—but all 32 sports can be viewed online as well.
